Known as the gateway to the Allegheny National Forest, the Pennsylvania Route 6 Heritage Community of Warren abounds with peaceful parks, scenic walking trails, and outdoor recreation in any season. But don’t spend all of your time in the forests or on the Allegheny River; spend some time exploring the rich history and architecture of Warren’s impressive 28-block historic district, too. From a priceless natural resource to a million-dollar legacy, Warren and Warren County boast an abundance of resources and history. And residents and visitors benefit!

“Do 6” – Things to Do in Warren County

  1. Explore the Allegheny National Forest – Hike, bike, and ride ATVs through the 555,000-acre Allegheny National Forest.
  2. Experience the History of Warren – Stroll through the National Historic District of Warren to see the wealth of the former oil barrens, stop at the Warren County Historical Society for a view of a historic mansion, and then visit the Crary Art Gallery where the work of world-renowned artists are regularly on exhibit and admission is always free and follow it up with a show at the historic Struthers Library Theatre.
  3. Kayak Down the Allegheny – Kayak or canoe down the wild and scenic Allegheny River.
  4. Take a Hike for Breathtaking Views – Hike up to the Rimrock Overlook or Jakes Rocks for breathtaking views of the Allegheny Reservoir.
  5. Learn About the Significance of the Kinzua Dam – Learn a little something about energy production at the Big Bend Visitor Center at the Kinzua Dam.
  6. Kick Up Your Heels at the Warren County Fair – Take part in one of Pennsylvania’s oldest continuously operating fairs, featuring award-winning agricultural exhibits, livestock shows, live entertainment, rides, and all the classic fair food favorites that make it a beloved summer tradition.
